
Sakurako Ishiyama is a Japanese alto saxophone player living in Helsinki, Finland. She was born in 1997 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, and moved to Finland in 2003.
She is known for her powerful musical interpretation and clear, but strong saxophone sound. She has worked with different music styles – jazz and big band music are dearest to her heart. Ishiyama got influenced by such as Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Phil Woods, and Maceo Parker.
Ishiyama graduated from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences as a performing pop/jazz musician in 2022. Currently, she is studying music pedagogic in the same school.
